Non-stimulant
Atomoxetine
A non-stimulant medication for ADHD, also known as Strattera®.
- Taken every day, usually once or twice daily
- Can take 2–3 months to reach full effect
- Not a controlled stimulant
Stimulant
Lisdexamfetamine
A stimulant medication for ADHD, also known as Elvanse® or Tyvense®.
- Taken once in the morning
- Long-acting throughout the day
- A controlled medication
Stimulant
Methylphenidate
A stimulant medication for ADHD, also known as Ritalin®, Concerta XL® or Medikinet®.
- Works within 1–2 hours of taking it
- Available in short- and long-acting forms
- A controlled medication
Non-stimulant
Guanfacine
A non-stimulant medication for ADHD, also known as Intuniv XR®.
- Taken once daily
- Do not stop taking it suddenly
- Not a controlled stimulant
